The Teams take the field

Field One: Revision3/ Digg vs. PowerReviewers

Odds are 7:1 on Revision3/ Digg — Revision 3 has been practicing in their basement at night, just waiting for the chance to triumph. I always like a fight from the underdog.

Field two: YCombinator vs. Slide

A struggle between the many and the mighty. Interesting things should happen when Slide is confronted with the mothership.

Field Three: Rupture vs. Dropbox

Gamers vs. sleepless MIT developers. This should be interesting.

Field four: Ustream vs. PBwiki/Lefora

The fight for Chris Yeh. PBwiki has him, Ustream misses this diabolical master of marketing. Which team has learned more?

The procrastinators who have taken WAY too long to sign their team up: Yelp vs. Get Satisfaction.

This compitetion will only come into existence if both teams actually register their members.

New to the field

The teams continue to line up, preparing to take the field on June 27th.

Power Reviews has decided to step up to the plate looking for an epic battle. They seem equally interested in soccer, kickball and dodgeball — a telling sign that their motor skills are unevenly distributed. Will their strength in sheer numbers be enough to dominate or will they be forced to drown their losses at Kezar pub?

Ustream- Vowing to live stream the kickball competition to document their crushing wins, Ustream has already thrown down the gauntlet.

YCombinator- is silently plotting battle with their mysterious army of start ups. Preferring to organize behind the scenes, this may be a telling sign to their kickball strategy. Methings they are secretly plotting game plays on their hidden google doc.

Dropbox – The beta babies from the east coast – too cool to join up with fellow fundees on the the Ycombinator team. This team boasts only one non-Ivy leaguer — that does not bode well for aggregate eye-hand coordination. Prediction -may fall asleep on the field due to severe sleep deprivation.

Stay tuned.

Kickball Seasons Begins!

It’s time for a Web 2.0 Challenge — what team will reign supreme?

Early Adopter teams — the first to sign up.

Revision3 teamed with Digg – Looking like our front runners to win the trophy – rumor has it that Revision3 has weekly training practice. Digg has them at the top of all lists.

PBwiki – Yes, they make a damn tasty product but how will their peanut-butter goodness hold up in real competition? Time will tell. They are quoted as saying – “Watch out now! It’s Peanut Butter Jelly time.”

Get Satisfaction – The nicest guys in the bunch but beware! they wield a ban hammer with an iron fist. This may translate into some fierce offense. Also — Cameron is a professional kickballer and there is reason to believe the rest are just as good.

Slide – Tony reigns supreme as Web 2.0 kickballer. The rest of the teams are out to take Slide down — mostly for the deadly use of Slide’s superpoke. My prediction is that there will be a deadheat between Revision3 and Slide.

lefora - Also known as Meetro. These men wear short shorts. You will be so stuck by their lovely gams that you’ll forget to catch the ball. Beware of Beauty.

Yelp – They’ve reviewed the best moves and are known competitors. Possibly too busy chowing down to show up?

Time will tell.
